Broad ranging category that could encompasses an innovation first ordered and or adopted for commercial use between 1 January 2008 and 31 March 2010, in Australia and/or New Zealand that incorporates performance material in its design or application.

Performance materials can include fabric, polymers, metals, wood, composites, ink and coatings, that make a significant impact in their area of application and provide performance attributes above what may otherwise be currently available.

Entries may include but not be limited to:
• engineering plastic applications
• electronic technologies
• coatings and paint industry
• protective apparel, fibres and fabric
• printed materials and packaging
