Vehicular Armoring

The last few years of combat in places like Iraq and Afghanistan have proven the need for strong, lightweight, flame resistant armor to protect trucks and other ground vehicles. DuPont™ Kevlar® technology is helping the military meet this challenge, with products that help minimize a wide range of threats. These include ballistic blankets to protect ordinance and cargo from fragmentation and fire, flame resistant spall liners in armored combat vehicles to protect crew members from spall generated by threats such as RPGs and EFPs, as well as lightweight composite armor panels to protect soldiers traveling in tactical vehicles from ballistic threats and fragmentation. Composite lightweight armor is also used to protect aircraft and helicopter crews from ballistic threats up to .50 cal machine guns.
