Product Information

Q: Why is laminate flooring so popular?

A: The unique ability of laminate flooring to simulate the look of other flooring products, while delivering the added values of wear, stain, fade and moisture resistance, along with lower costs for preparation, material and installation, have made this product category the most rapidly growing segment of the flooring industry.

Q: May I burn old or unused pieces of laminate flooring in my fireplace/wood stove?

A: No, although laminate flooring may have the beautiful look of wood product, laminate flooring is made through a complex process that includes various resins and components that should not be burned.  Please safely dispose of all old or unused pieces of laminate in accordance with your local government requirements.

Q: What product(s) should I use to clean and maintain my DuPont® Real Touch® Laminate Floor?

A: Any brand of window glass cleaner is recommended to clean your DuPont® Real Touch® Laminate Floor. Spray the cleaning product on the floor and immediately wipe with a clean, dry cloth or mop.  Do not pour any cleaning solution directly on the floor as it can damage the laminate.  For heavy traffic areas, vacuum or broom sweep the floor prior to using cleaner. Floor mats are recommended at all exterior doorways.

Q: Does DuPont® Real Touch® Laminate Flooring require acclimation if stored in similar temperatures prior to installation?

A: If the DuPont® Real Touch® Laminate Flooring has been stored at temperatures similar to the installation environment, allow a minimum of 24 hours for acclimation. In extremely cold or hot climates, DuPont® Real Touch® Laminate will require longer acclimation periods (48 to 96 hours.)

Q: Where can I find warranty information about the product?

Q: If my question is not listed here, how can I get an answer?

Installation
Q: Where can laminate flooring be installed?

A: One of the great things about DuPont™ Real Touch® Laminate Flooring is that you can install it over virtually any existing floor - wood, concrete, resilient tile and vinyl sheet flooring. That means you don’t have to pull up the old floors and deal with the mess or the hassle of repairing most subfloor damage. Just make sure your subfloor is structurally sound, dry, clean and flat.

Q: I’m a DIY’er. Can I install laminate flooring myself?

A: Yes. Installation instructions are inserted in every carton of laminate flooring. You can also click here for installation instructions.

Q: How do I determine the direction in which to install my laminate flooring?

A: To decide where to begin the layout of your floor, consider incoming light. It is usually best to install DuPont™ Real Touch® Laminate Flooring with the planks running parallel to light coming in windows or glass doors. For any installation, the starting wall should be as long and straight as possible.

Q: What kind of blade is best to use in my hand saw or power saw for installation?

A: A diamond blade is recommended for cutting DuPont™ Real Touch® Laminate Flooring.
