“CorrSurface Protect” Products to Shorten Downtimes and Help Increase Productivity

DuPont Performance Lubricants today introduced its new line of CorrSurface Protect (CSP) coatings and lubricants for maintenance of the critical equipment used by corrugated box manufacturers.  The introduction of these three products – CSP 3560, CSP 2224 and CSP 310 – continues DuPont’s nearly two-decade commitment of innovation and service to the corrugated industry during which time DuPont™ Krytox® has become a preferred grease for corrugated bearings.

“Through our long association with the corrugated industry, we have seen and heard first-hand some of the challenges that negatively impact productivity levels,” said Susan Sotiropoulos, business manager, Performance Lubricants.  “Problems such as excessive starch buildup on equipment and oil staining from blade lubricants require time-and work-intensive cleanups and/or adjustments that previously have been viewed as unavoidable.  With the launch of our CSP product suite, solutions now exist for better dealing with these issues, thereby turning what used to be fixed costs into variable costs.”

Below is an overview of the CorrSurface Protect product line and functionality:

• CSP 3560 – Pre-treating trays with the CSP 3560 coating allows ink and starch to be hosed off easily, eliminating the need for pan scraping and reducing equipment turnaround time by up to 66 percent (from one hour to 20 minutes). CSP 3560 is available in quart size containers.
• CSP 2224 – For treating double-backer hot plates, CSP 2224 shortens board scoring and production downtime due to scraping.  The result is less scrap on whiteboard, reduced shutdowns and higher throughput.  CSP 2224 is available in quart size containers. 
• CSP 310 – This water-based lubricant eliminates staining of board that often results from the use of oil-based lubricants.  Additionally, in tests it has been shown to extend run life of blades by as much as 30 percent.  CSP 310 is available in gallon size containers.

“By shortening scheduled maintenance cycles and decreasing the number of unscheduled work stoppages, CSP products can help increase overall uptime for corrugators.  As a result, plant managers and industry executives now have more options for expanding production capacity or redeploying workers into other areas of plant operations.  All of which can help lead to improved productivity, efficiency, quality and safety in the workplace,” added Sotiropoulos.
