Overview

DuPont Biosensor Materials are specifically designed for use in medical monitoring, diagnostics, drug delivery, food and beverage testing, and environmental sensors.

The line of printable conductive materials improve sensitivity & selectivity of new sensor designs with fine lines, thin layers, and high conductivity.

Key features of DuPont Biosensor Materials:

  • Printed on flexible substrates products are compact, lightweight, environmentally friendly, inexpensive and lend themselves to highly efficient manufacturing processes.
  • Can be folded, twisted, bent around corners or bonded to any surface making them ideal for applications where flexibility is needed.
  • Printed on ceramic substrates, PTF products are especially suited to harsh environments, e.g., chemicals, temperature, where a biosensor is expected to have a longer life.

Applications

  • Enzyme-based amperometric biosensors for metabolic analyte testing (e.g., blood glucose, cholesterol, lactate)
  • Potentiometric sensors for selective ion detection of body electrolytes
  • Iontophoretic devices for drug delivery
  • Microfluidic and chip designs for drug screening and DNA sequencing
  • Trace/heavy metal and food freshness sensors
  • Medical devices including heart pacemakers and hearing aids

Products

DuPont Biosensor Materials build on core competencies in materials science, chemistry and fine particle technology. Products include:

  • Electrically conductive compositions including silver, gold, and carbon for lines and contact pads.
  • Silver/Silver Chloride compositions used as electrodes for amperometric sensors, potentiometric sensors, and iontophoretic drug delivery devices.
  • Precious metal-based compositions for working electrodes in amperometric sensors used in analyte detection.
  • Compositions include ceramic Green Tape™ used in hearing aids and other medical devices.
