Applying to the MLDP

 

What is the MLDP?

The MLDP is a management rotation program designed to inject marketing talent and develop future leaders for DuPont. During the three-year program, participants complete two to three assignments lasting twelve to eighteen months each. The MLDP provides exposure to a variety of marketing disciplines and other business functions through challenging assignments in several DuPont business units. Assignments are designed to deliver visible and measurable results for multi-billion-dollar businesses. After completing the program, participants are matched to a leadership role within a DuPont business based on their skills and current business needs. The program's first class started in 2003, and there are currently more than fifty recent MBA graduates in the MLDP. For details, please click here.

What skills and experience do I need to join the MLDP? Candidates must posses or be pursuing an MBA with a concentration in marketing or strategic management and have five or more years of marketing related work experience. DuPont seeks strategic thinkers with demonstrated leadership qualities and outstanding problem solving, analytical and interpersonal skills. Will I have to move every year when my rotation assignments change?

Not necessarily. Most assignments are based at DuPont headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware. Wilmington is about a 30-minute commute from Philadelphia and easily accessible to many other cities like New York and Washington, DC. Depending on business needs participants may be based elsewhere in the U.S. Positions may require domestic and global travel.

Do I have an input in selecting businesses as I rotate? Assignments are allocated based on business needs and your interests, strengths and development needs. In selecting an assignment, participants express interest in up to three assignments from available options. Then, assignments are matched based on the business needs and participant's skills, background and experience.

Where are DuPont and program participants located? DuPont and the MLDP are based in Wilmington, Delaware, site of most DuPont business headquarters.  Wilmington is about a 30-minute drive from Philadelphia, PA.  The Greater Philadelphia Area is a comfortable environment for both young professionals and families. You may also be based elsewhere in the U.S. or internationally, depending on business needs, personal interests and demonstrated skills.  For details, please click here.

Will I have the opportunity for an international assignment during the course of the program? Many assignments are based in Wilmington, Delaware, site of most DuPont business headquarters, however, there are many opportunities to effect business globally. Positions often require domestic and international travel. Also, based on business needs and demonstrated skills, you may be based outside the U.S. for entire rotations or for a few weeks or months at a time. We currently have participants working in rotational assignments in Europe, Asia, and Latin America. International students join MLDP's global segment and final placement (after program graduation) is always in the participant's home country.

Will I have a mentor while I am in the MLDP? Most successful professionals have mentors that have helped them succeed. The MLDP provides program participants with a head start at the highest levels in the corporation. During your first months in the program, you will be grouped into cohorts of three and be assigned two formal mentors. Does the MLDP hire foreign nationals (international students)? Our increasing focus on emerging economies requires professionals with international experience and interest. Foreign nationals may spend 1-2 years in the U.S. before returning to their home country or region, provided proper visa requirements are met.
