Open to All Students in Grades K-12.

INSTRUCTIONS TO PARTICIPANTS

ENTRY DEADLINE:  DEADLINE IS DECEMBER 2, 2009.

ON THE BACK OF YOUR ENTRY:  Include the following key information:

* Student’s Name

* Teacher’s Name

* Home Address

* School Address

* Home Phone Number

* Grade

Complete student information must be on the back of the entry ONLY. Incomplete information or information on the front of the entry will result in disqualification.

SIZE:  8.5” x 11” or 9” x 12” paper of any type or color. ONLY these sizes are acceptable.

RELATE YOUR ART PROJECT TO DR. KING AND HIS WORK. Submissions will be judged on creativity and adherence to the theme, ONE DREAM, ONE WORLD, ONE COMMUNITY, in the divisions below:

Four Divisions:  Grades K–2, Grades 3-5, Grades 6-8 , Grades 9-12

Guidance: Students can submit artwork in the form of paintings, drawings, sketches, or collages, using artistic representations to communicate the theme.

SIZE:  8.5” x 11” on white paper, lined or unlined. No electronic submissions will be accepted. Computer printed or typewritten is strongly suggested with a two-page, double-spaced limit. If handwritten, handwriting must be legible and is limited to three pages. Longer entries will be disqualified.

RELATE YOUR ESSAY/POETRY/SPOKEN WORD TO DR. KING AND HIS WORK. Submissions will be judged on creativity, adherence to the theme, ONE DREAM, ONE WORLD, ONE COMMUNITY, in the divisions below:

(Grades 7-8) How can I keep Dr. King’s dream alive in my community?
