Schwarzenegger recognised in DuPont sponsored environment award

Hutch Rank announcing the 2007 Banksia International Award winner, Governor Arnold SchwarzeneggerOn Friday 20 July DuPont (Australia) Managing Director, Hutch Ranck, announced Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger winner of the 2007 Banksia International Environment Award, an award DuPont (Australia) has sponsored since 1996.

The Banksia International Award is the highest accolade Australia confers to an individual for environmental achievement in the global arena.

The Governor was recognised for his environmental action plan, http://gov.ca.gov/issue/environment and work to reduce greenhouses gases in the United States and around the world.

While unable to personally attend the awards ceremony, the Governor sent a letter confirming his acceptance.

"Like Australia, California is a place of magnificent scenery, diverse resources and vibrant wildlife", the Governor said.

"These natural treasures deserve our strongest protection and our most thoughtful stewardship.

"I am excited to lead California in the fight against climate change, because as everyone in this room knows, we all have a responsibility to preserve our beautiful planet for future generations."

DuPont (Australia)'s association with the Banksia Foundation spans more than 12 years and was precipitated by Edgar Woolard's international award win in 1995. Since then environmental luminaries, such as Sir David Attenborough, Professor Stephen Schneider and Dr Terry Root, and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, have been presented with the award.

The partnership reflects the 20 year commitment by DuPont to sustainability objectives.
