DuPont Performance Coating (DPC) Puts Science To Work
Our Regulatory Affairs Network in DuPont is comprised of dedicated people who help to assure that DuPont Canada’s safety, health and environmental regulatory compliance is achieved in the most effective and efficient way possible. Part of what they do involves dialoguing with industry and government on a consultative basis. A key area of government interaction for this network is the Ministries of the Environment (MOE), whose work it is to ensure that our air, water and land are protected by regulatory standards.
In an effort to improve air quality in Ontario, the Ontario MOE recently released a position paper on proposed new air emission standards (regulation 419) for polymeric Isocyanate. Tthe DPC member of our Regulatory Affairs Network reviewed the paper and recognized that it did not reflect the global understanding of isocyanate toxicology. Working with the MOE, other industry stakeholders and DuPont global experts in toxicology, tthe DPC member of our Regulatory Affairs Network Bruce and the Technical Manager, DuPont Performance Coating (DPC) Canada reviewed the toxicological basis behind the standard-setting process. After much consultation amongst these stakeholders, a new standard on polymeric Isocyanate was introduced in Ontario based on leading toxicological data that reflects the sound knowledge of DuPonters who on a regular basis, "Put Science to Work".
