Engaging with the Alberta Government
One of the ways that we put science to work is by building relationships that increase our resource capability and potential for impact. Last month, DuPont hosted a number of Alberta government officials - Mr. Mel Wong, Assistant Deputy Minister, Technology Commercialization Division; Mr. Doug Maley, Federal Assistant Deputy Minister, Western Economic Diversification, Alberta Region; Mr. Robert Lai, Executive Director of the Information and Communications Technology Institute for Alberta Advanced Education & Technology; Mr. Ken Langhorn, Branch Head, Innovation Support Services for Alberta Advanced Education & Technology - to discuss our intentions and mutual interests in the oil and gas industry, biofuels and renewable resources. Sustainable development is an important area of interest for both the Alberta government and DuPont. The session allowed DuPont to share our 2015 sustainability goals and how they are aligned with the province’s goals and objectives to promote a healthy, viable and environmentally sound economy for Albertans.
Executives from DuPont were there to voice their perspectives on DuPont’s deep technology capability to deliver sustainable solutions. Our Kingston RE&D facility and our vast global resources were central to that discussion. Building relationships such as this one with the Alberta government help identify and explore opportunities for funding and partnerships that will ultimately accelerate our market penetration.
