MISSISSAUGA, ON, July 16, 2009       Mississauga’s first Habitat for Humanity home is getting some “neighborly” help through products and services from DuPont Canada.

Glen Roberts, Director of Building Innovations for DuPont Canada, attended a fund raising event for the Mississauga Habitat Project in early 2009, and became interested in participating in the project.

“DuPont Canada is extremely proud to support Habitat for Humanity, which has many similar goals as DuPont” said Mr. Roberts,

“Through our products and services, we strive to help people everywhere to enjoy a safer and healthier life.  We are especially pleased to contribute to the construction of this family home in our Company’s Canadian headquarters community.”

DuPont products used on the home included DuPont™ Tyvek® HomeWrap®, DuPont™ FlexWrap™, DuPont™ StraightFlash™ VF and DuPont™ Tyvek® Tape.     DuPont™ Tyvek® Specialists Bruce Kelly and Paul Locke volunteered their time and expertise while providing hands-on instruction to the Castlehill Construction crew who leant a hand with the installation.

DuPont™ Tyvek® HomeWrap® works like a windbreaker over a sweater, helping to keep air and water out.  Wrapped around the home, DuPont™ Tyvek® HomeWrap®, together with DuPont™ FlexWrap™ and DuPont™ StraightFlash™ around the windows, helps make seamless protection of the home possible. These DuPont products were an ideal choice for the Habitat Mississauga project because of their ease of installation and the additional benefits they will provide to the family.  They will help maintain the R-value of the wall insulation, eliminate drafts and contribute to the family having an energy efficient, cost- efficient and comfortable home.

DuPont has supported a number of other Habitat projects within North America.  One notable project was rebuilding the Town of Greensburg, Kansas following a devastating tornado in 2007. DuPont donated more than 30 innovative products and services to rebuild the town, including funding for two Habitat for Humanity homes.

The Mississauga Habitat for Humanity home is expected to be completed and ready for the family to move in this fall.
