Community, media view site during open house
CHATHAM, Ontario, June 17, 2011 – People in and around the Wingham, Ont., area were given a first-hand look at a new production facility being built by Pioneer Hi-Bred, a DuPont business.
The company, which had broken ground on the new facility last fall, offered site tours to community and media to explain the facility and show its progress to date.
| In September 2010, Pioneer announced plans to build a $15 million canola parent seed production facility near Wingham. This production facility is a key component of significant investments Pioneer Hi-Bred is making in Canada. The plant will cover 35,000 square feet and will ship seed across Canada, the United States as well as to Australia and Chile. |

“This new facility is an example of the significant investments in resources Pioneer is making across Canada,” says Grant. “Not only will our agricultural clients benefit from this facility, but so will the community, with facility staff moving into the area and utilizing area resources, schools, etc.”
About 70 area residents took part in the day’s events, which included a continental breakfast and a tour of the site. In addition, formal remarks were made by Grant, Tim Weller, Production Manager with Pioneer Hi-Bred and Paul Gowing, Mayor, Municipality of Morris-Turnberry.
