DuPont Sustainable Solutions Hosts Leaders Forum at Globe 2012
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, March 15, 2012 – Effectively engaging employees is one of several critical activities that a group of Canadian and international business leaders said are necessary for organizations to achieve sustainable growth in the current challenging business climate.
The business leaders, from a range of industries, were participating in a leaders forum hosted by
DuPont Sustainable Solutions (DSS), a global business that specializes in helping clients transform workplaces and work cultures with consulting services and technologies that bring about sustained improvements in safety, operational and environmental performance.
The other critical activities identified by the forum participants included establishing a clear sustainability value proposition, focusing on longer-term goals, linking sustainability to profitability, accessing physical and financial resources and developing a clear societal vision with respect to climate change.
“The actions identified by these diverse business leaders are consistent with what we are hearing from many of our clients around the world, and what we are doing in DuPont to continuously improve our sustainability,” said
James R. Weigand, president, DuPont Sustainable Solutions. “Companies are seeking clarity to help them navigate through the complexity of today’s business environment so that they can achieve sustainable growth into the future.”
The business leaders, from across Canada and around the world, discussed a number of topics, such as their greatest sustainability challenges, leadership’s responsibility, the role of organizational culture in advancing sustainability and competitive advantage, and the performance indicators necessary to measure results and success.
The DuPont Sustainable Solutions Leaders Forum was held in Vancouver in advance of the
GLOBE 2012 Conference and Trade Fair on Business Sustainability and the Environment. The event is one of a series of forums or “collaboratories” that DSS is hosting globally to advance business sustainability through discussions around challenges and solutions.
Leaders from DuPont Sustainable Solutions and DuPont – one of the first companies to publicly establish environmental goals more than 20 years ago – will be discussing solutions to address a range of important sustainability challenges throughout the GLOBE 2012 conference. Some of the topics will include innovation and its role in driving sustainability, advancing the corporate sustainability agenda, next generation biofuels for a low carbon economy, and women’s perspectives on sustainability.
