Thirty top UPSR scorers from three schools in Pahang were rewarded and feted at a ceremony in a hotel in Shah Alam recently.
The top scorers were among the 360 pupils under the Projek Sekolah Cemerlang DuPont aimed at boosting educational excellence among rural students.
Top achievers in the program wereMuhamad Asyraf Othman, Noor Adila Shahriful Azhar and Norsaizuliza Adnan from SK LKTP Kg Sertik, whoc scored 5As, While Asah Arumugam, Malathi Chandra Segaran, Rabicintha James and Vinod Rajendran from SRK Tamil, Karak obtained 7As.
R. Thivagar, A. Priyanggah and Rubaggan Chelvan also from SRK Tamil karak obtained 6As. Twenty others obtained between 4As and 3As each.
The three year programme was initiated by DuPont Malaysia for SK LKTP Kg Sertik, Karak, SK LKTP Lakum, Lanchang, and SRJK Tamil Karak. All the schools are in Pahang.
DuPont Malaysia managing Director Dr A. Hapiz Abdullah said the company was proud the pupils had dome well in their exams.
He said DuPont was looking at expanding the programme and working with other schools.
Dr Hapiz said beside sponsoring the pupil;s tuition fees, DuPont staff also provided motivational talks for teachers and parents while pupils were given counseling.
The program also provided opportunity for children to be involved in science competition and camps, outdoor trips to the Petroscience Center in Kuala Lumpur, National Science Center and Forest reserve Institution Of Malaysia in Kepong were also to motivate and encourage pupils to excel in science subjects.
"I thank DuPont for encouraging me in my studies. They made learning more fun", said Norsaizuliza, a top achiever from SK, LKTP Kg Sertik.
