KUALA LUMPUR, May 17 (Bernama) DuPont Malaysia Sdn Bhd, with its Safety Training Observation Program (STOP) will help prevent injuries and incidents in workplace.
Research shows that on average two people die at work every day in Malaysia and 221 are injured.
The Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) has to pay out about RM700 million in compensation annually based on the injuries in workplace.
In the statement Monday, DuPont said there was a growing need for workplace safety being felt by organization across industries in Malaysia.
Among industries worldwide, 150,000 injuries occur everyday resulting in losses not only in human resources but also billions of dollars in medical expenses and compensation cost, it added.
“DuPont understands the power of saving lives because we have done it ourselves. Worldwide, over 60 percent of our plants operate with zero injuries. This translates to DuPont savings millions of dollars each year” said its managing director, A. Hapiz Abdullah.
