DuPont puts science to work for Kazakhstan oil and gas sector

DuPont took part in the 15th Anniversary International Oil and Gas Exhibition and Conference which was held on the 2-5 October 2007 at the Atakent Exhibition centre in Almaty. Each year since 1993, the KIOGE Exhibition & Conference demonstrates innovative technologies and different projects of international and transnational companies dedicated to the Oil and Gas sector. The exhibition is focused on the solutions for the Kazakhstan oil and gas industry and is considered to be one of the major events for this sector of the industry, more than 30% of the exhibition participants are Kazakh companies.

Kazakhstan is reach in natural resources, mainly oil, gas and mineral. Current oil reserves include 32.5 billions of barrels (twice as much as in the North sea). Projected oil reserves are estimated at 100-110 billions of barrels by 2015 (would be top 5 of the world). All these factors create prerequisites for the intense development of the oil and gas industry as well as the prospects for the application of DuPont innovative technologies.

DuPont demonstrated at its stand (for the first time in Kazakhstan) its innovative technology of  AFS RTP (Reinforced Thermoplastic Pipe) with Kevlar®. Also, DuPont traditional offer for the oil and gas industry was presented at the stand, which includes Tyvek® protective coveralls, Nomex® fire protective apparel, corrosion resistant Teflon® coatings for pipelines.

Andrey Glinsky, DuPont Oil and Gas Business Development Manager for Russia and CIS commented DuPont company participation in the event as follows: “High growth rates of Kazakhstan oil and gas sector are accompanied by the rise of interest for new technologies in this sphere. The state program of petrochemical and refining sectors development, adopted by Kazakhstan government, puts as the main goal the modernization of the present refining facilities and the development of petrochemical production in the framework of the adopted concept of energy efficient and sustainable production. All this creates broad prospects for DuPont Clean Technologies business development in Kazakhstan».
