DuPont thinks about the nature

The DuPont booth at the Polygraphinter 2007 exhibition set the industry thinking about the environmental aspects of modern production. This year DuPont created a very unusual booth using the concept “Developing technologies we think about Nature”. The booth focuses on the importance of creating technologies that help to protect or enhance health, safety, and the environment.

When developing new systems DuPont not only follows existing laws but anticipates increased government efforts to reduce environmentally harmful emissions. Directive 1999/13/EC is one of the most important government directives.  The “Solvent  Emissions Directive”, also known as SED,  is intended to reduce emission of volatile organic chemicals.

Cyrel® FAST, a revolutionary technology that eliminates the need for solvents in the production of flexo printing plates, meets all SED requirements.  This technology, already available and well known in Russia, uses thermal heat to process the plates and collects any photopolymer waste on a nonwoven fabric, making disposal easy and safe.

“The combination of digital workflow and Cyrel® FAST thermal development will guide the flexographic printing industry toward a new age of improved productivity and quality,” says A. Marchenko, regional manager, DuPont Imaging Technologies, Russia & CIS.   “Solvent processes will serve the industry for a certain time but we are convinced that the use of Cyrel® FAST thermal development will grow steadily because of its productivity and environmental advantages.”
