“DuPont for the Future” Forum in Kyiv

The “DuPont for the Future Forum” was held in Kyiv, Ukraine, on April 21-23, 2008.

The Forum participants included more than 80 DuPont business and function leaders from the US, EMEA and ECEMEA regions, including Ian Hudson (President, DuPont Europe, Middle East and Africa), Maritza J Poza-Grise (Vice-President, HR), Hartmut Reinke (Director Business Development, Eastern/Central Europe, Middle East & Africa), H. Joachim Juntermanns (Director HR DuPont, Europe, Middle East and Africa) and John Shmorhun (Regional Director for Eastern Europe).

Operating in more than 70 countries, DuPont chose Kyiv, Ukraine for its Forum this year. DuPont is looking at Ukraine as a high-priority market, the importance of which compares to that of Russia and of other emerging markets.

The main purpose of the Forum was to highlight Ukraine and Russia as one of the most promising and fastest growing markets for DuPont worldwide. The Forum focussed on “Step Change” growth opportunities for the Region, with a particular look at people as “our most important resource”.

"Eastern Europe represents for DuPont a top growth market worldwide with more than 30% growth over the recent 2 years, exceeding USD 0,5 bn. this year. It is important that business leaders meet with the many new employees and new talent in DuPont that drive growth in emerging Europe", commented Hartmut Reinke, business development director for Europe, Middle East & Africa.
Natalie A. Jaresko (Co-Managing Partner, Horizon Capital), Leonid Kozachenko (President, Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation),  Douglas R. Kramer (Counselor for Economic Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine) addressed the audience and gave an insider view on the Ukrainian investment climate, opportunities for private business development and the experience of other foreign companies operating in this market. Nenad Pacek (EIU) fascinated the participants with his deep insights into the macro- and microeconomics of the Eastern and Central European region.
The Eastern  European Team presented a number of opportunities to improve growth.  Workshop sessions were then used  to develop those suggestions for profitable growth in the region.
"The diversity of ideas and views of external speakers and customers on one side and DuPonters from the Region on the other side demonstrate the competence and spirit of energy in these markets and were an excellent learning opportunity to see how DuPont grows as a team at its best", says H. Joachim Juntermanns, HR director, DuPont Europe, Middle East and Africa.
