DUPONT SUPPORTS THE SOLAR & HYDROGEN POWERED CARS RACE
Science and technology company DuPont, supported Middle East Technical University drivers at this year’s Solar&Hydrogen Powered Cars Race with Nomex® flame-resistant overalls.
Hydrogen&Solar powered cars competed at the races between July 24-29 in Ankara organized by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK). During the races, Middle East Technical University (ODTU) drivers wore DuPontTM Nomex® flame-resistant protective overalls.
Nomex® is a special fiber material that provides perfect protection against heat and flame, and significantly increases the chance of surviving in case of exposure to heat and flame due to its flame-resistant, non-melting, non-dripping features. Nomex® does not release any toxic gas or smoke and therefore does not create an intoxication risk by continuing to burn when the flame contact is interrupted after any accident. Suitable for industrial washing, Nomex® offers comfort and convenience to the drivers due to its light and comfortable features.
This year, hydrogen powered cars also competed at the races beside the solar powered cars. And the first robot society of Turkey, Middle East Technical University Robot Society, competed with 2 vehicles in solar powered car category and 1 vehicle in hydrogen powered car category.
“Being a leading science company, our sponsorship in this event is an excellent way for DuPont, both to create lasting relationships with future scientists and engineers and to protect future motor -sports pilots with Nomex®” stated Arinc Aktan, DuPont Personal Protection Area Manager.
