DuPont Qualicon recently participated in the China International Food Safety & Quality Conference & Expo in Beijing, which allowed the U.S. and China to explore a technical exchange of ideas for reducing food product risk.

The exposition highlighted efficient and cost-effective methods for achieving food safety. DuPont Qualicon showcased the BAX® system, its award-winning DNA-based method for detecting bacterial contaminants in food. Doug Muzyka, president of DuPont China, and Kevin Huttman, president of DuPont Qualicon, spoke with Minister Li Changjiang and other visiting dignitaries about DuPont and its contributions to food safety.

“Extraordinary growth in China means extraordinary demands and expectations on the infrastructure and from the global community,” Kevin said. “As part of the global community gathered for this conference, DuPont offers the technology, experience and expertise to help China—and nations the world over—create new initiatives and meet their food safety goals.”

“For more than two decades, DuPont China has been helping to meet the needs of businesses in food and nutrition markets, along with electronics, textiles, automotive and personal protection,” Doug said. “DuPont is committed to delivering innovative, science-based technologies that improve the safety and quality of life, in China and worldwide.”

More than 500 attendees from leading international companies, local businesses, regulators, and universities shared in plenary and breakout sessions that emphasized trends, challenges and standards for world markets. Keynote addresses from officials within the Chinese government focused on food safety as a priority to protect consumers and trade interests.   Siqun Wang, global director for R&D at Qualicon, moderated a session on food testing developments and also talked about recent advances in food safety testing products.
