DuPont Brazil recently reinforced its commitment to food safety at a ribotyping technology symposium, hosted by the Agriculture, Livestock and Supply Ministry - also known as MAPA (Ministério da Agricultura, Pecuária e Abastecimento).

The RiboPrinter® system from DuPont Qualicon was introduced to food industry representatives and agribusiness associations.  The system identifies and characterizes bacteria in food, generating a unique genetic "barcode" pattern that can be used to trace and track contamination.  MAPA will use the RiboPrinter® system to build a nationwide database of ribotyped patterns to cover all of the bacterial strains found in food samples throughout Brazil.

"This was an excellent opportunity to share our technologies that prevent and control harmful pathogens," said Ricardo Vellutini, president, DuPont Brazil.
