The Hotel du Pont, located in Wilmington, Del., and its historic restaurant, the Green Room, have both been honored by AAA Mid-Atlantic with the Four Diamond Award status for 2009.  This year marks the 32nd time -- and the 16th consecutive year -- that the Hotel du Pont has received the prestigious award, making it the Delaware establishment with the longest tenure on the Four Diamond list.  Equally impressive is the Green Room in the Hotel du Pont with 24 years of AAA Four Diamond recognition. 

Representing the upper echelon of the hospitality industry, AAA Four Diamond Award winners comprise just 3 percent of the 58,000 Diamond Rated lodgings and restaurants throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean.  “It is thrilling to be selected from the thousands of hotels and restaurants considered by AAA,” said Patrick Hall, general manager of the Hotel du Pont.  “Being acknowledged in this way is certainly a tribute to the Hotel du Pont and Green Room tradition of excellence and the ability of our outstanding staff to please the most discerning travelers and dining patrons.”
