Personal care products made with Zemea® are now available to consumers globally.

Bio-PDO™ is being marketed as Zemea® propanediol by the DuPont Tate & Lyle joint venture based in Loudon, Tennessee (U.S.).  Zemea® is a 100% bio-based ingredient made from corn sugar and developed for use in cosmetics and personal care products.  It is a high performance alternative to petroleum-based glycols and glycerin in cosmetic and personal care formulations and has been approved as a natural ingredient by Ecocert™, an independent certification body for the cosmetics and personal care industry.

There are more than 50 consumer products globally now using Zemea®.  In the first quarter of 2009, Philosophy launched four new consumer skin care products that contain Zemea®.  Formulators of professional and spa products from Biotene and Bioelements also turned to Zemea® to enhance their natural products. 

Method Home of San Francisco looked to DuPont Tate & Lyle for renewably sourced ingredients for their laundry and cleaning products.  In 2008, they launched their “Squeaky Green” HE (high efficiency) compatible laundry detergent and liquid dish soaps that incorporated Zemea® into their environmentally responsible formulations.
