Working Mother magazine recently featured the experience of Susan Stalnecker, vice president and treasurer, DuPont Finance, as an example of why DuPont made its “Hall of Fame” list of the top 100 best companies for working mothers.

The magazine showcases DuPont’s flexibility and benefits for working mothers.  “At DuPont, cutting back on your hours doesn’t mean cutting back on your advancement opportunities,” the article reads.

In the article, Susan shares her personal experiences related to working part-time for the company.  “In 1984, after giving birth to twins, I took a six-month maternity leave,” Susan says.  “But shortly after returning…I asked for a part-time position.  The VP at the time negotiated with Human Resources and made it happen.”

“I publicized my flexibility because I wanted other women to take advantage of this opportunity,” Susan says in the article.  “People realized that working a flexible schedule wouldn’t derail your career.”
