British Artist ‘Banks’ on Corian® for Painting, Sculpture

Influential British artist
Michael Craig-Martin has created two large-scale artworks made with
DuPont™ Corian® for the new
European Investment Bank (EIB) building in Luxembourg.
Renowned for his ability to elevate public spaces by using bright colors and images of everyday objects as works of art, Craig-Martin has produced a “painting” titled "Parade" -- his largest work to date -- and a “sculpture” titled “One World,” which is set into the floor of the building’s main atrium. Both installations use the special properties of Corian® solid surfaces, using inlaying and marquetry techniques, as well as a range of specially-developed vibrant colors to create intricate line-drawings on an immense scale.
Michael Craig-Martin has been a driving force in contemporary art. Throughout his career, he has explored the expressive potential of commonplace objects and brought conceptual art to prestigious public spaces, and his latest work for the EIB reflects both of these themes.
