| YIT students visit the DuPont site in Scotland. |
The DuPont site in Dumfries, Scotland, recently hosted 32 local students from Annan and Langholm academies. The students -- ages 16 and 17 -- were among the first in Scotland to participate in a unique business education course, Young International Trader (YIT), to help launch them into international careers.
YIT was developed by the Institute of Export to help bridge the skills gap. It is the Institute's first attempt to introduce international business education into schools. The students are encouraged to research companies, countries and industries that interest them and learn how they manufacture and sell their goods and services. They experienced a "real-life" view of the world of imports and exports and how it affects their daily lives.
The Institute of Export is a registered charity with a mission to enhance the U.K.'s export performance by setting and raising professional standards in international management and export practice. It is world renowned for its training courses and professional qualifications for staff working in businesses linked to international trade.
