DuPont Scores Legal Victory in Cookware Litigation

Teflon(R) tagEarlier this month, DuPont achieved a legal victory when a federal court in Des Moines, Iowa, dismissed a consolidated group of 22 cases filed on behalf of consumers who purchased cookware with Teflon® non-stick coating. Following recent court rulings in favor of DuPont, which denied class action status to these cases, the plaintiffs in all 22 cases decided to drop the litigation.

“This is a significant victory for DuPont, and brings to an end litigation that has been active for almost four years," said Tom Sager, senior vice president and general counsel. "This decision supports our position that cookware coated with DuPont™ Teflon® non-stick coatings is safe for its intended use.

“Teflon® is a trusted brand and is used all over the world by millions of people every day,” Tom continued. “We remain committed to operate to the highest standards in product stewardship and ethical behavior for our valued customers and consumers.”
