DuPont Mexico's Integrated Health Services team was awarded the 2007 International Corporate Health and Productivity Management Award from the Institute of Health and Productivity Management at a ceremony in Scottsdale, Ariz., yesterday.
Building on the premise that improving health and preventing illness are key factors in improved productivity, the team developed a program focused on health education and assessments of issues related to lost work time, lifestyle choices and community health resources.
Since the program's inception, the DuPont site in Altamira, Mexico, has achieved important improvements in productivity and significantly reduced absenteeism. This allows the site to increase its contribution to helping the company meet its goals.
"Advancing employee health is one of DuPont's core values," said Wayne Lednar, DuPont chief medical officer and director, Integrated Health Services. "We are proud that this team was able to demonstrate the business value associated with improved health and productivity."
The team was led by Bernardo Curiel, medical director, DuPont Latin America. Other members included Valente Pina, leader, Integrated Health Services, Altamira; and Ruben Gayosso, leader, Integrated Health Services, DuPont Mexico.
