Employees at the DuPont El Dorado, Ark., site continually support South Arkansas Community College, which provides educational opportunities to local residents and prepares a skilled workforce for employers in the area.
One way El Dorado employees achieve this goal is by volunteering at the college’s Outdoor Expo, heightening awareness of educational opportunities in the community and raising money for scholarships.
The DuPont “Rib Cook-off” team won first place at the Expo and donated the $750 prize to the college scholarship fund.
Additionally, Preston Weeks, the site engineering manager, spearheaded an application for a DuPont Community Fund grant that added $2,500 to a scholarship program, Reaching Educational Achievement Closer to Home (REACH), which provides financial assistance.
“We are glad that DuPont can help the South Arkansas Community College prepare students for a successful future,” said Don Kuhlman, El Dorado site manager.
Acquired from Chemtura in 2007, El Dorado has 25 employees who produce fluoroproducts for use in fire extinguishers and medical gas applications.
