How Did Jeff Gordon Do This Weekend?
With the NASCAR Sprint Cup 2009 Series approaching its final weeks, Jeff Gordon and the No. 24 team headed to Martinsville looking for an eighth victory on the short, paper-clip-shaped track. He’s done well in earlier races at Martinsville, Va. In 33 starts at this track, he had seven wins, seven poles, 21 top-fives (including his current streak of nine straight) – and 27 top-10s.
“Our job is the same as it’s always been here,” Jeff said before the race. “And our goal is to be better than the competition in each of the last races. A lot can happen in each race.”
