Two environmental and process improvement projects at the Mobile manufacturing site in Alabama (U.S.) earned praise from peer companies, and are making a difference in the environment.
The site was one of five companies recently honored by Partners for Environmental Progress (PEP), an alliance of 172 Alabama manufacturers.
The Mobile site was recognized for two specific footprint reduction projects.
- The first project involved changing cooling methods to eliminate 13,000 pounds of ammonia from an air conditioning compressor.
- The second project involved replacing a newly purchased solvent with recycled solvent.
In addition to these award-winning projects, the Mobile site is also working with the organization’s newly formed Byproducts Synergy Group to identify additional improvement opportunities.
“The Mobile site gains a lot of value from our association with PEP,” said Javier Hernandez, site operations leader. “By networking with other manufacturers, we can share learnings and ultimately make a difference in Alabama’s environment.”
