DuPont Sponsors 2003 Service to America Medals
Award Ceremonies Today in Washington, D.C., Pay Tributeto Outstanding Government Employees

WASHINGTON, D.C.,  October 15, 2003  —  DuPont today joins business and government leaders in honoring the extraordinary efforts of nine federal government employees during ceremonies in Washington, D.C. DuPont is a national sponsor of the 2003 Service to America Medals, a program honoring innovative, high-impact achievements by individual government employees.

"We are pleased to help recognize the efforts of people who are making a difference in both the quality of our lives and the strength of the United States," said DuPont Chairman and CEO Charles O. Holliday, Jr. "We firmly believe it is the responsibility of the business community to help ensure that our country has a strong and vital civil service along with the technological solutions to address the safety and security needs."

Nine winners will be honored with the following medals: Federal Employee of the Year; Career Achievement Medal; Call to Service; Homeland Security; Business & Commerce; Environment, Science and Technology; Justice; National Security & International Affairs; and Social Services.

The award ceremony was created by the non-profit group Partnership for Public Service and the Atlantic Media Company, publisher of The Atlantic Monthly, National Journal and vGovernment Executive. The Partnership for Public Service is dedicated to revitalizing public service through a variety of initiatives, including the Service to America Medals.

John Fox Sullivan, president and group publisher of Atlantic Media, said he was delighted that DuPont is co-sponsoring this year's ceremony along with Siemens.

DuPont Government Business Development is headed by Frank Pugliese, Jr. in the company's Washington, D.C., office. Pugliese joined DuPont earlier this year after 28 years with the General Services Administration (GSA), where he was Commissioner and earned the agency's top accolade, the Distinguished Service Award.
