DuPont Declares Force Majeure for Aniline and Acrylonitrile Businesses As Result Of Hurricane Rita

DuPont has declared force majeure for its aniline and acrylonitrile businesses, effective Sept. 22, 2005.  Products impacted include aniline, acrylonitrile, hydrogen cyanide and acetonitrile.  The DuPont Chemical Solutions Enterprise manufacturing operations in Beaumont, Tex., were significantly impacted by Hurricane Rita.  While structurally secure, the Beaumont site is particularly impacted by the availability of purchased utilities, raw materials and supporting infrastructure.

DuPont is actively assessing the situation and is engaging with local authorities and suppliers to determine when restart of the facilities can occur.  The company is working closely with its customers to lessen the impact on their businesses.
