DuPont to Launch Nonwovens Facility in South Korea
Company Continues to Focus on Growth in Targeted Emerging Markets

WILMINGTON, Del. and SEOUL, South Korea,  May 19, 2005  —  DuPont today announced it has signed an agreement with the Republic of Korea to build a $12 million nonwovens market development manufacturing facility in the province of Gyeong-gi, near Seoul.

"This agreement is an example of DuPont executing our strategy of 'going where the growth is,'" said Mark P. Vergnano, vice president and general manager of DuPont Nonwovens. "This market development facility will allow us to develop new selective barrier technologies and drive new applications globally. In addition, this initiative furthers DuPont's objectives to more clearly address the market needs of the Asia Pacific region."

DuPont worked with South Korea's Minister of Commerce, Industry and Energy Dr. Hee-Beom Lee and several Korean organizations, including the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, in securing the agreement, the company's latest move in Asia Pacific. Earlier this year, DuPont opened its corporate research and development facility near Shanghai to support growth in the Asia Pacific region. Last month, DuPont announced a research agreement with the National Chemical Laboratory in India.
