DuPont extends its thoughts and prayers to the people of Japan, our colleagues, partners, friends and their families in the wake of the devastating earthquake and tsunami.
We are gratified to report that all DuPont employees and their family members are safe.
DuPont continues to closely monitor the situation in Japan and provide technical expertise and other resources to support our people, customers and communities.
As for DuPont operations in Japan, most of our joint venture manufacturing facilities were outside the earthquake area and almost all are fully operating today. Our research and manufacturing facility at Utsunomiya, which produces performance polymers for the automotive and industrial markets, incurred damage. Although the site has returned to its full staffing level, we have developed alternative plans utilizing our global supply chain network to meet our customers' product needs until the Utsunomiya site regains full production. All remaining DuPont sites in Japan are operating.
The safety of our employees and their families continues to be our utmost priority, and we are committed to working with our customers to resume business operations and serving our communities in this critical recovery and rebuilding phase.
