Like many other companies, DuPont is addressing the influenza pandemic. Since May 2005, the company has had a global multi-disciplinary team in place to assess and prepare for such a pandemic. We actively monitor developments related to this threat as well as the rapidly evolving technologies to respond to it. We bring the team together regularly for situation updates and coordinated action. Our plan emphasizes employee well-being and business continuity. Employees receive information updates by email and newsletter, as well as on our internal pandemic website. In particular, we encourage employees to practice good hygiene methods to avoid infection and to inform themselves on this topic using reliable sources of information.
Our preparedness is being tested since the pandemic was first recognized early in 2009 as a result of disease that started in Mexico. DuPont has performed well in response to the pandemic (H1N1) 2009 challenge.
Our corporate pandemic team is led by our Chief Medical Officer and is made up of representatives from each geographic region and staff function. We also have teams in each business and each region of the world.
For more than 200 years, DuPont has operated, and continues to operate, its businesses consistent with our Core Values, including the safety and health of our employees, our customers, and the people in the communities in which we operate.
