The lounge environment re-defined: a conceptual interpretation of the lounge as a dynamic space of transition between neutral and active states, “CORIAN® super-surfaces” is a frozen moment within a dynamic sequence of transformations which morph DuPont™ Corian® solid surfaces into a fluid and elastic collection of integrated kitchen, bathroom and flooring concepts highlighted by an astonishing feature wall…conceived by AL_A and materialised with DuPont™ Corian®.
Carefully crafted by the unique design vision of AL_A, this sculptural interpretation of the lounge environment showcases the amazing material performance of DuPont™ Corian® and highlights its inherent ability to modify perceptions of space and form.
More than an iconic design material… more than an extremely versatile, visually stunning and highly functional surface… through a combination of advanced digital design technologies, innovative fabrication techniques, and fascinating lighting effects, AL_A will reveal the “super-surfaces” nature of DuPont™ Corian®.
“CORIAN® super-surfaces” will benefit from the technical collaboration of Margaritelli/Listone Giordano® (Italy, flooring in DuPont™ Corian®), Nemo divisione luci di Cassina (Italy, lighting solutions), Isometrix Lighting+Design (United Kingdom, lighting design), molo (Canada, seatings in DuPont™ Tyvek®) and Hasenkopf (Germany, fabrication of DuPont™ Corian®).

About Amanda Levete and AL_A - Amanda Levete (portrait by Harry Borden on the left) is an architect and designer whose critically acclaimed work is both award winning and seminal in its influence. She is the director of AL_A, an innovative London based design practice with a visionary agenda focused on the integration of design, research, technology, and materiality. Current work includes a new Headquarters building for News International in London, a large luxury retail and hotel complex in Bangkok, a City Academy in London, a subway station in Naples in collaboration with Anish Kapoor, and furniture for Established & Sons. The most recent collection, ‘Around the Corner’, was exhibited at the Established & Sons Gallery in London in 2008. Amanda Levete trained at the Architectural Association, worked for Richard Rogers, and then joined Future Systems as a partner in 1989, before launching AL_A in 2009. |
