  1. What is NexGen®?

  2. Are NexGen® garments flame resistant or flame retardant?

    No, NexGen? garments are not flame resistant or flame retardant and should not used by flammable or potentially explosive environments.  Go to top



  3. Can NexGen® garments be used for welding applications?

    No, NexGen? garments are not flame resistant or flame retardant and should not used by flammable or potentially explosive environments.  Go to top



  4. What NexGen® garments can be used in cleanrooms?

    DuPont does not currently offer NexGen? garments for us in cleanroom applications.  Go to top



  5. Will NexGen® garments discolor in storage or before use?

    NexGen? garments may turn yellow after long-term exposure to oxidizing gases, such as nitrous oxide and exhaust from internal combustion engines.   Go to top



  6. What is the shelf life of NexGen® garments?

    At this time there is no established minimum shelf life for NexGen? garments.   Go to top



  7. How fluid repellent are NexGen® garments?

    NexGen? are resistant to penetration by many, but not all liquids, under pressure. Chemical splash protection may require bound or taped seam garments made from non-porous chemical fabrics such as Tychem? or System CPF?.  Go to top



  8. Is an MSDS available for NexGen® garments?

    No, as defined by OSHA, all NexGen? garments are considered to be "articles" and are therefore exempt from MSDS reporting requirements.   Go to top



  9. Are NexGen® bootie feet skid-resistant?

    ProShield? boot covers have a good coefficient of friction (COF) and are skid-resistant.   Go to top



  10. What is the particle holdout of NexGen®?

    Particle holdout tests were conducted on NexGen? using the Aloxite barrier test method defined by TC162 WG3. The results show NexGen? to have a 99% efficiency holdout of particles to .35 microns.  Go to top



  11. How long may NexGen® garments be used before discarding?

    All ProShield? garments are designed for limited-use; the actual use time will vary depending on work conditions and hazards present.  Go to top



  12. May NexGen® be recycled?

    It may be possible to recycle uncontaminated NexGen?, however, DuPont has not completed any studies on recycling garments at this time.  Go to top



  13. Is it possible to wash NexGen®?

    NexGen? garments are inexpensive and designed to be disposed of, thus DuPont does not recommend washing. DuPont has no performance testing to support washing of garments.  Go to top



  14. How should NexGen® garments be disposed of?

    The recommended method of disposal is burial in a landfill in accordance with applicable local, state, national, EC and/or federal regulations. If a suit is known to be contaminated, additional requirements may apply. Discarded suits should be mutilated to avoid re-use by unauthorized individuals.  Go to top



  15. Can NexGen® garments be incinerated?

    All NexGen? garments are certified incinerable by the GTS Duratek. NexGen? garments may be incinerated if not contaminated with chemicals, which would prevent incineration. Given the proper combustion conditions, incineration of NexGen? will generate water vapor, carbon dioxide and a small amount of mineral ash residue. A mixture of smoke and fumes are emitted when burned. It is recommended that positive pressure, self-contained breathing apparatus be worn; extinguish with dry chemical, foam or carbon dioxide.  Go to top
