    No, ProShield? garments are not flame resistant or flame retardant and should not be worn in explosive or potentially flammable environments.  Go to top

  3. Do ProShield® garments hold out oil?

    No, ProShield? does not offer repellency to oils.  Go to top



  4. How much chemical protection will ProShield® garments provide?

    ProShield? garments are not suitable for hazardous dry particle and liquid chemical protection, but are suitable for non-hazardous dry particulate applications.  Go to top



  5. May ProShield® garments be used in cleanrooms?

    ProShield? garments are not suitable for cleanroom applications. DuPont offers Tyvek® IsoClean™ and Suprel® LS garments, which are manufactured, processed and packaged specifically for class 100,000 to 100 cleanroom use.  Go to top



  6. Can ProShield® garments be gamma sterilized?

    Yes, ProShield? can be gamma sterilized, but is not available in that format.   Go to top



  7. Will ProShield® garments discolor in storage or before use?

    There is a possibility that white ProShield? garments may turn yellow after long term exposure to oxidizing gases, such as nitrous oxide and exhaust from internal combustion engines.  Go to top



  8. How fluid repellent are ProShield® garments?

    ProShield? is not designed for applications requiring fluid repellancy. Please see Tyvek® or Proshield® NexGen® for those applications.  Go to top



  9. Are ProShield® garments available in other colors?

    ProShield? garments are available in white or blue.  Go to top



  10. Is an MSDS available for ProShield® garments?

    No, as defined by OSHA, all ProShield? garments are considered to be "articles" and are therefore exempt from MSDS reporting requirements.  Go to top



  11. Does the elastic back affect the physical properties of the garment?

    No, however, the addition of the elastic back will enhance garment performance.   Go to top



  12. What is the shelf life of ProShield® garments?

    At this time there is no established minimum shelf life for ProShield? garments.   Go to top



  13. Is it possible to wash ProShield® garments?

    ProShield? garments are inexpensive and designed to be disposed of, thus DuPont does not recommend washing. DuPont has no performance testing to support washing of garments.   Go to top



  14. Can ProShield® be recycled?

    DuPont has not conducted any studies on recycling ProShield? garments at this time.   Go to top



  15. How long may ProShield® garments be used before discarding?

    All ProShield? garments are designed for limited-use; the actual use time will vary depending on work conditions and hazards present.  Go to top



  16. How should ProShield® garments be disposed of?

    The recommended method of disposal is burial in a landfill in accordance with applicable local, state, national, EC and/or federal regulations. If a suit is known to be contaminated, additional requirements may apply. Discarded suits should be mutilated to avoid re-use by unauthorized individuals.  Go to top



  17. Can ProShield® garments be incinerated?

    ProShield? garments may be incinerated if not contaminated with chemicals, which would prevent incineration. Given the proper combustion conditions, incineration of ProShield? will generate water vapor, carbon dioxide and a small amount of mineral ash residue. A mixture of smoke and fumes are emitted when burned. It is recommended that positive pressure, self-contained breathing apparatus be worn; extinguish with dry chemical, foam or carbon dioxide.  Go to top
