DuPont, a leader in personal protection garments for over 40 years, recently introduced its latest innovation – DuPont™ Nomex® Limitedwear for Military. DuPont™ Nomex® Limitedwear for Military is a lightweight, limited-use garment designed as specified by the military to help protect soldiers from flash fires.

DuPont™ Nomex® Limitedwear for Military fits comfortably over most uniforms and can be vacuum packed for compact storage and mobility.  This flexibility makes it ideal for mechanics, infantry or any person performing a task where the risk of flash fire exists.  The garments are available in desert tan, sage green solid colors and a camouflage printed pattern.  Since DuPont™ Nomex® Limitedwear for Military is made primarily with Nomex®, it is breathable, will not melt or drip, dries quickly and can be machine-washed without compromising its inherent fire resistance protection.

In simulated flash fire tests lasting three seconds in duration, when DuPont™ NOMEX® Limitedwear for Military garments were worn on top of the Battle Dress Uniform (BDU), Total Predicated Body Burn reduced to less than 10%.

DuPont™ Nomex® is an inherently flame-resistant, high-temperature fiber that will not melt, drip or support combustion in air.  It provides outstanding resistance to a broad range of chemicals, delivering protection against a variety of threats.  For example, firefighters have relied on turnout gear, stationwear and accessories made of DuPont™ Nomex® for more than three decades.   DuPont™ Nomex® fiber is standard protection for industrial workers to protect from flash fire and electric arc hazards.  It is also used in military gear such as flight suits, Combat Vehicle Crewmen coveralls, gloves, helmet liners, and straps.
