The miracles of science™

Select Industry

DuPont™ Nucrel® resins are flexible, specialty thermoplastics created by high-pressure copolymerization of ethylene(E) and methacrylic acid(MAA) or acrylic acid(AA). Resulting Nucrel® copolymers can be injection molded or extruded at slightly lower processing temperatures than polyethylene. Performance properties include excellent toughness, light weight and durability in aggressive chemical environments.

Nucrel® resins provide excellent adhesion to aluminum foil, nylon, paper, and other polar substrates. As a seal layer in laminated and coextruded structures, Nucrel® resists delamination and seal failure even in harsh environments. It has excellent hot tack strength, low seal initiation temperature and good toughness.

Uses & Applications

Versatile Nucrel® copolymers can be injection molded or extruded at slightly lower processing temperatures than polyethylene. Performance properties include excellent toughness, light weight and durability in aggressive chemical environments. The resins can be pigmented, UV-stabilized for exterior applications and painted or plated for special decorative effects. They are inherently flexible, resilient, tough, and resistant to ozone and environmental stress cracking.

Typical applications include footwear, glass and metal coatings, injection molded parts, carriers for color concentrates, wire and cable insulation, and adhesive films and compounds.

Nucrel® resins also provide excellent adhesion to aluminum foil, nylon, paper, and other polar substrates. As a seal layer in laminated and coextruded structures, Nucrel® resists delamination and seal failure even in harsh environments. It has excellent hot tack strength, low seal initiation temperature and good toughness.
