Executive Biography
Judith E. McKay is Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel for DuPont Canada. Ms. McKay has leadership responsibility for Legal for both DuPont Canada and DuPont Liquid Packaging Systems, headquartered in Canada, with global operations in North America, South America, Europe and Asia Pacific. In addition to her General Counsel role, Ms. McKay leads Government Affairs, Government Marketing, Public Affairs and Corporate Operations for Canada. Furthermore, she has recently assumed leadership of DuPont Canada’s Operating Team, which provides governance and stewardship of DuPont’s operations in Canada.
Prior to joining DuPont, Ms. McKay was with the firm McCarthy Tetrault (formerly McCarthy & McCarthy) in the intellectual property group. Her career with DuPont began in 1988 when she joined DuPont’s Intellectual Property Unit. She has held a number of positions in DuPont Legal, including leading all Canadian aspects of the $4.2 billion sale of DuPont’s global INVISTA fibres unit to Koch Industries. Ms. McKay was named to her current role in May 2004.
Ms. McKay was born in Canada and graduated from McMaster University with an under graduate degree in Chemical Engineering. She received her L.L.B. from the University of Toronto and is a registered patent and trademark agent, receiving the J. Edward Maybee award for highest standing in the Patent Agency qualifying examinations.
Ms. McKay served as a director on the executive committee of the Canadian Association of General Counsel. Ms. McKay is a cabinet member of the Sheridan Institute of Technology Student Capital Campaign. She is a member of the Canadian Association of Corporate Counsel, the Canadian Chemical Producers Association, Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters and the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada. Ms. McKay received one of the 2005 Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Awards from the Women’s Executive Network.
