Through research, effective networking and the strategic application of new energy technologies, DuPont Canada improved its per-unit energy consumption by 28 per cent between 1990 and 1999. The Canadian Association of Agri-Retailers chose the DuPont™ Acurum™ automated grain analysis system as one of the Top 10 New Technologies in 2004.  DuPont™ Acurum™ is an advanced technology that uses digital imaging and artificial neural networks to objectively assess specific quality factors in grain.  Grain industry customers who use this technology can make better and more consistent decisions when buying, selling and blending grain, compared with the more subjective process of doing a manual visual inspection.  DuPont Canada has a long-term global licensing agreement with the Canadian government to commercialize the system, which was developed initially by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.
