Dr A Hapiz Abdullah is Managing Director of DuPont Malaysia and Regional Manager of DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymer business unit in Asia. He joined DuPont in 1995.
He began his career as a Lecturer at the Chemistry Department, University of Malaya in 1984. Prior to joining DuPont, he spent over 10 years with a major multinational company where he was based in USA and Hong Kong most of the time.
Keenly interested in the chemical industry, Dr Hapiz plays a significant role in the raising the awareness of environmental care and social responsibilities among the chemical industry.
Hapiz has led DuPont's employees in helping to develop the local communities, through encouraging science in education, health and environment awareness and safety programs in Malaysia. In 2002, he initiated the Responsible Care Award program to the Malaysian Chemical Industries, which was launched for the first time in the country. In 2007 he was the Asia Pacific Responsible Care Conference Chairman, where DuPont was one of the sponsors.
He is an Executive Committee of Malaysian Petrochemical Association, and the Chairman of Responsible Care, Chemical Industry Council of Malaysia. He is also a member of the American Chamber of Commerce and the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Dr Hapiz earned his undergraduate degree in Science at the University of Nevada, USA and his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry at Utah State University, USA.
