Ramon Abadilla is the Managing Director for Du Pont Far East, Inc. - Philippines.
His current role puts him in charge of providing country business directions towards growth opportunities. He represents the Company in various business associations in the country as well as being the key spokesperson in matters dealing with the government and with other external functions.
Ramon joined DuPont in 1983 as Plant Supervisor for the Crop Protection Products (CPP) plant, and he eventually worked his way to take on the position of Plant Manager of the Laguna based facility. In 1990, he was transferred to DuPont Singapore as the Asia Pacific Regional Manufacturing and Marketing Coordinator for CPP working with various country organizations within the region to develop and implement regional business and operations initiatives.
In 1993, he accepted the role of Project Manager for PT DuPont Agricultural Products Indonesia to lead the design and construction of CPP factories in Surabaya, Indonesia. After the completion of one plant, he was then appointed Operations Manager during which he led the construction of two more factories in Surabaya. In 1999, he was given additional responsibilities to serve as the Vice President Director for DuPont Agricultural Products Indonesia joint venture’s Board of Directors.
DuPont Philippines operates under the concept of Strategic Business Units (SBU) wherein the respective business leaders set key initiatives. From only one business unit in 1973 (Crop Protection Products), the company has expanded to include five business groups ranging from Coatings & Color Technologies to Electronic & Communication technologies to Performance materials to Agriculture & Nutrition to Safety & Protection. The company operates two manufacturing facilities with more than 200 employees.
In this highly diversified business, Ramon works with each business unit on synergies and leverages functional services in order to support the business unit goals in the country level.
He believes in the value of people empowerment because according to him, this provides great opportunity for employees to maximize their growth potential and create their own destiny. Ramon graduated from the University of Santo Tomas in 1978 with a chemical engineering degree.
