Lewis E. Manring is vice president, technology -- DuPont Coatings & Color Technologies. He oversees research and development globally for the business segment which includes DuPont Titanium Technologies and DuPont Performance Coatings. Mr. Manring joined DuPont in 1984 as a research scientist at the Experimental Station, the company's global R&D headquarters in Wilmington, Del.

He spent the first eight years of his DuPont career in research and research management with the company's Central Research & Development (CR&D) organization. From 1992 to 1997, he worked in research and product management for the DuPont™ Zytel® nylon resins businesses in Parkersburg, W.Va.

He then returned to CR&D as a research programs manager. In 2000, he was named global technology director for DuPont Nonwovens. He was appointed global technology director for the Coatings & Color Technologies segment in 2006 and assumed his current position in May 2008.

Mr. Manring received a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from Santa Clara University, a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from UCLA, and did post-doctoral research at Harvard before joining DuPont.
