DuPont Packaging Awards for Innovation

Former Joint Venture Now Wholly Owned

TORRANCE, Cal., Aug. 23, 2005 – DuPont today announced that it has acquired 100 percent of DuPont Authentication Systems (DAS), a joint venture between DuPont and Keystone Technologies, LLC created in 2001. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

DAS provides its customers with complete overt, covert and forensic brand authentication and security systems built around its Izon™ deep, three-dimensional photopolymer based labels. Izon™ is widely regarded as the most secure overt technology available. DAS products and services are used worldwide by customers in the electronics, pharmaceuticals and consumer products industries seeking anti-counterfeiting and brand enhancement of their products, as well as government agencies that protect security documents, such as passports and personal IDs.
DAS will maintain and enhance its manufacturing facility in Logan, Utah where Izon™ products are produced. DAS will also invest in new capacity and capabilities throughout the supply chain to enable higher quality and consistency of products and services to its global customers. The acquisition is expected to strengthen production and sales services for DAS customers, and will allow for accelerated development of next generation products.
“Protection from counterfeiting is a growing concern among both consumer and industrial companies. These companies seek simple, clearly recognizable, non-compromised protection systems to secure the genuineness of their products and services. It is DuPont’s intent to offer a number of authentication capabilities from overt labels and tags, strong covert, forensic and trace capabilities and supply chain verification,” said Peter Compo, managing director, DuPont Displays. “With its global distribution, business and scientific resources, patented Izon™ technology and a number of new offerings, DuPont is uniquely suited to bring these products to market.”
DuPont has a number of authentication capabilities throughout the company and this acquisition will help accelerate the integration of offerings to customers.
