The Label Makers, Bradford has installed a DuPont flexo plate-making solution in order to offer their customers state-of-the-art CDI platemaking technology and to continue in their efforts to offer the highest quality printed product. The solution consists of a DuPont™ Cyrel® FAST 1000TD, DuPont™ Cyrel® FAST 1000ECLF and an ESKO CDI Spark 4835. This system will be used to manufacture all flexo plates required within the plant which includes plates for their Nilpeter M Series Combination presses, an MPS Servo flexo press, and a FA4 Line Servo press.
"We needed a new plate-making solution to keep pace with the two flexo presses and also improve the quality of our current plate-making process," states Robert Norton, Studio Manager. "We initially installed a water wash-out system, but this was not practical as the quality achieved did not meet our requirements. Therefore we needed a replacement that was fast and of a high quality and we concluded that the DuPont™ Cyrel® FAST system matched these requirements. Coupled with the environmental benefits, this machine was the perfect choice for our company."
"Historically, we have printed the majority of our work letterpress, litho, screen, flexo and foil combination. Our flexo press was under-utilised due to the fact we had to buy in imaged flexo plates for any complex process work which gave us the disadvantage of wasted press time and time delays if a plate was damaged during a run. With the new Nilpeter press being installed by the end of the month, we needed to bring high-quality plate-making in house. The Cyrel® FAST system will allow the new press to run alongside our existing press 24/7, with no worries about plate workflow."
The Cyrel® FAST system uses advanced dry, thermal technology for the most efficient plate-making, without the problem of harmful chemical solvents or aqueous washout solutions. As well as being ecologically friendly, the system offers faster, more cost-effective solutions for a full range of packaging and label applications. The DuPont™ Cyrel® FAST allows production of a finished digital plate of up to 35.4 inch x 47.2 inch in less than one hour.
David Webster, Managing Director of The Label Makers in Bradford says, "We have had the Cyrel® FAST since February, and are very impressed with the quality and results so far. As the new press and the Cyrel® FAST system prove themselves we will transfer more and more work to flexo and reduce our dependency on letterpress and in some instances litho. The Label Makers employs over 60 people at its busy plant, printing specialist labels from single colour up to eight colours. The company uses various substrates and a variety of printing processes, which include flexo, litho, letterpress, silk screen, foiling and embossing. Its clients include blue chip companies such as Morrisons, Asda, Tesco, 3M and RPC.
