The desire to better serve their customers in Czech has led S&K LABEL spol. s r.o. (www.sklabel.cz/en/) to invest in a new DuPont™ Cyrel^® FAST 1000TD digital system.

Specialized in self-adhesive paper and foil print, S&K LABEL added a highly efficient DuPont thermal developer that consistently process high quality Cyrel® FAST digital photopolymer printing plates.

The DuPont™ Cyrel® FAST 1000TD processor is a solvent-free unit that uses dry, thermal processing to produce the printing plates. It uses a non-woven fabric (developer roll) to remove non-polymerized plate sections with the aid of controlled pressure and temperature levels and thermally develops plates up to 90 × 120 cm.

DuPont worked closely with S&K LABEL to ensure a smooth installation. "I am impressed by the professional service and the high level of co-operation we received from DuPont" explained Mr. Karel Sehnal, Executive Officer of the Company. "The Cyrel® FAST thermal developer is a significant addition to our flexo plate production and we believe this will bring additional business to our company."

The Cyrel® FAST is S&K LABEL’s first digital (thermal) flexo plate making system and complements the pre-existing conventional analogue solvent line, allowing shorter make ready and minimal waste.

"After having analyzed the qualities and capabilities of the DuPont technology, it wasn’t a difficult decision to make" added Mr. Karel Sehnal. "There's nobody locally that has anything close to our capabilities. We now have more flexibility. The Cyrel® FAST system in particular has reduced platemaking time dramatically from two-and-a-half hours to just less than one hour per plate. There's always a press being set up or taken down, and we can slot in ‘rushes’ and ‘panics’ because we now have a DuPont thermal processor that process flexo plates so quickly. We can accommodate them and at the end of the day, that's what builds customer loyalty. Last but not least, I have to mention the company Panflex from Prague (Cyrel® distributor and trade shop) which helped enabling the implementation of this new technology in our workflow."

S&K LABEL has grown steadily since it started operation in 1991. Today, the company is rated as medium-sized businesses and employs 116 people at its facility in Prague. Last year S&K LABEL processed 13.9 million square meters of self-adhesive paper and foil. This represents approximately 25% of the Czech market of self-adhesive materials.

On the strength of the long-standing premium quality of its products, S&K LABEL has become the first Czech business to join the International Federation of Stick-on Label Producers, FINAT (Federation Internationale des Fabricants et Transformateurs d´adhesifs et thermocollants sur papiers autres support).
