This much awaited event shone brightly, not only because the Great British summer deigned to suspend its usual dreary greyness and deliver two glorious sunny days, but also because of the positive reactions of the DuPont guests as they were able to experience, with the help of the product specialists, the potential impact that DuPont’s innovative solutions can have on their businesses.
The recently renovated DuPont building offered excellent surroundings for all the attendees who could see and touch every aspect of the DuPont ideal workflow for graphic arts. This also provided DuPont with a great opportunity to celebrate the opening of their new Demo Suite. In the garden area visitors were able to relax in the sunshine and discuss with their peers and the DuPont specialists their print and graphics challenges and needs. The wonderful weather nicely accompanied the great BBQ food, the drink and the jazz trio that was playing through the day. Of course during the evening of the 20th many took the opportunity to stay with the DuPont team and watch the England vs. Sweden match on a big screen over a drink or two.
The product specialists from DuPont Packaging Graphics were on hand to explain and even give live demonstrations of many Cyrel® products. DuPont™ Cyrel® FAST the dry thermal technology for plate processing, which completely eliminates the need for conventional chemical solvents and aqueous washout solutions. DuPont specialists were able to show how this product can be used to improve the speed and effectiveness of the digital work flow. DuPont™ Cyrel® round the continuous polymer sleeves, are the ideal high quality endless printing form, suited to gift wrap, wall paper, tag & label and all flexible packaging applications as well as the ability to make considerable cost savings in the press room. For the first time ever also another new DuPont development was showed, the web based quality control system DuPont™ Cyrel® CQS. The Quality Suite software enables flexographers to track and analyse their plate-making and print process through production. They can develop a best practise procedure by analysing the results extracted from the system, which are based on their own accurate input of production information.
Also the DuPont Color Communication business had experts running live demonstrations of many excellent products such as DuPont™ Cromalin® blue a new digital proofing solution developed to meet growing requirements for increased production speed and cost-efficiency from a premium quality proofing system. Also on demonstration printing live jobs was the DuPont™ Cromalin® Largo, a ‘plug and play’ solution which can dramatically improve turnaround times and proof-to-press accuracy. With its fast output speed, Cromalin® Largo delivers high quality contract and imposition proofs at up to three times the speed of other inkjet printers whilst maintaining highly affordable operating costs. Printing on a large variety of substrates was the DuPont™ Cromaprint™, the ideal solution for wide format printing that prints DuPont UV Cure ink directly to substrates without the need for special pre-coating. At the heart of the DuPont™ Cromaprint™ is the World Class DuPont™ Cromanet™ colour server featuring spectral based calibration and colour management, an Adobe®PostScript™ RIP, and digital workflow production tools.
The guests consisted of major UK Packaging Corporations, Flexo Printers and Trade Shops, Consumer Goods Companies and Retailers concerned about brand consistency, Magazine Publishers concerned about colour correct advertisements and Catalogue Publishers concerned about return rates. Through these two days they were able to gain an appreciation of how they can capture consumer attention and empower their brands through high impact graphics obtained with DuPont’s innovative solutions.
Product experts were also available to give visitors information from the DuPont Ink Jet division where there is now the facility to print directly onto textiles with DuPont™ Artistri™. As well as an opportunity to discuss several DuPont substrates, such as DuPont™ Tyvek® and DuPont Teijin Films™ Melinex®. Esko Graphics were also with us to present their Packaging software.
Dunja Ploessl, Sales Manager DuPont Imaging Technologies, commented "although the England vs Sweden game enjoyed by our guests on the 20th was not a resounding success, our event certainly was! Several orders were taken over the two days, we are in discussion with a number of potential customers regarding future orders, and from the positive feedback that we received, it is clear that all those that attended realised the benefits that our innovations can have in a changing and competitive market place."
